Limalimon is a Spanish pop rock band formed by talented young people who are dedicated to producing, recording and mixing their own compositions. They use electric guitars, plectrum bass and energetic drums to bring to life direct lyrics and catchy melodies, inspired by the American pop punk rock of the 90s and 2000s, with influences from bands like Blink182, Machine Gun Kelly and Sum41. The four members of the band, Luis, Pichi, Fran and David, although each one brings their different qualities and skills to Limalimón, share the same attitude: carefree, energetic and creative.

Illustration of three singles covers
In 2022, Limalimón contacted me to create three covers for the songs they would be releasing soon. It was a very rewarding project for me, as I’ve been a fan of the band since their beginnings. The songs are about the different stages of a break-up, the mourning and the emptiness it leaves behind. For the covers, I decided to depict scenes that take place in the messy bedroom of a teenager recently confronted with heartbreak. Below I explain the contents of the three covers of No vuelvas +, Dormir solo and 5 Días.

NO VUELVAS +
A teen is lying down looking at the ceiling, surrounded by elements that make reference to the lyrics of the group’s songs, such as a box with personal objects, posters of the group, the iconic rubber duck and a box of matches, among other details or easter eggs.

DORMIR SOLO
Same room but a different point of view: the young man is looking at his mobile phone in a night that envelops him completely. He writes a message that takes centre stage in the middle of the screen: ‘I can’t sleep alone’, referring to the title and lyrics of the song.

5 DÍAS
Again, the scenario is repeated, in this case showing the reflection of the young man drawing in the mirror with a red lipstick the days he has spent without being himself, lying in bed, wondering if the bad guy was him, according to the lyrics of the song. The dark circles under his eyes, the dishevelled hair and, again, the messy room symbolise his state of mind after the break-up.
